Red Coral Spiritual Healing Qualities

Many cultures that practice alternative medicine use red coral for various spiritual and physical ailments.

Red coral is a Mediterranean marine coral that has a red or pink skeleton, which is used in jewelry and as a healing gemstone. It is found in the Mediterranean, Japan, Taiwan and near the Strait of Gibraltar. Coral is considered a magical gemstone and sometimes given as a protective amulet. It is said to help with certain physical disorders involving the blood and have various healing properties, but no clinical studies are available for the use of red coral. Traditional Ayurvedic medicine uses red coral to help balance the mind-body connection. The theory is to restore the body’s hormonal balance. Red coral is used in combination with Indian asparagus root, thick-leaved lavender, angelica glauca, licorice root, sandalwood, pearl, rose other herbs. Skilled practitioners to relieve hot flashes, according to Nancy Lonsdorf M.D, mix it into healing powders.

Antidepressant

Red coral is said to protect against despondency and depression. Red coral’s soothing effect quiets and calms emotions creating peacefulness. It is used as an emotional healer to bring peace and calm.

Amulet

Proponents of gemology say that if you wear or own a red coral, you will enjoy good fortune, never be possessed by evil spirits, bothered by ghosts, bad vibrations, nightmares, storms or lightening. It is often worn as a protective amulet.

The ritual for wearing a red coral amulet is to purchase the coral on a Tuesday when the Moon is in Aries or Scorpio. The weight of the coral should be no less than 6 rattikas, 5.4 carats, according to Ayurveda healing.

Stimulant

Traditional Ayurvedic medicine uses red coral as a stimulant and an aphrodisiac, according to the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange. Proponents of Ayurvedic medicine believe the properties of red coral affect the body and are strongest when in contact with the skin. For example, when worn as a ring or pendant, red coral has a harmonizing effect on emotions and a balancing effect on the body.

Blood Disorders

Red coral is commonly used as an Ayurvedic treatment for various blood disorders including low blood pressure, poor circulation, clogging and reduced blood flow. It is mainly used in Pitta type conditions. The recommendation is to wear red coral or pearl.
